good home remedies for arthritis and/or stress?
my mom has arthritis and i feel like..really sorry for her cuase she says that she cant sleep at night..and..she also has stress and she cant sleep at night cause of that too..
and somtimes she talks about like…death becuase of that …so..yea i feel really bad..
so …any good arthristis/stress remedies??
I have heard of three good alternative remedies for arthritis, but can’t say I’ve personally tried any of them. One is to rub odorless castor oil on the sore joints two or three times a day. Another is to mix 2 tsp of liquid pectin (Certo, Ball, Sure-Jell, etc) in 8 oz of grape juice two or three times a day. The third is to drink 4 oz of cherry juice (real juice that’s 100% cherry juice, not cherry-flavored apple juice — check labels carefully) twice a day. I’ve heard these all work, but not for everyone. One may work for one person but not another, who may find a different one works for her. Try them all. They’re all inexpensive and easy to obtain.
As for the stress, that’s harder. I personally have found relief from muscle stress (not mental stress, but muscles that tense at night) by putting a bar of soap (don’t laugh too hard) on either side of my pillow under the sheets. The soap lasts a couple of months, then needs to be replaced. It can then go into the shower or by the sink. Using soap that’s real soap (not a body wash bar) but is scented may help your mom relax. Reading something relaxing (I like to read my Bible, then switch to a good fiction book) helps me let go of the day’s worries, too, before going to bed.
If you’re Christian (of whatever flavor) praying for your mom would be the very best thing you could do for her.

Can anyone offer advice on pain management, meditation for birth and laboring?
I want to have a natural birth with my baby. I’m due in about 11 weeks and I want to learn how to meditate and breathe through the pain and let my body relax and experience birth like it was meant to. I’ve heard of a lot of women who have wonderful birth experiences and are able to release the tension in their bodies and be connected to their baby during birth.
Where can I learn more about pain management of this kind? Any one have any advice or book suggestions?
Google Jon Kabbat Zinn. He wrote a book on Pain Management using meditation.

Are there any nurse practitioners currently working in a chronic pain management unit/setting?
I am looking for any SOP’s (standard operating proceedures), clinical pathways, terms of reference, best practice guidelines or job descriptions for a nurse practitioner in a chronic Pain Management setting. We have recently established a new NP position at the PMU (chronic pain management unit) within our hospital and would like further guidance as to the role/job description etc. Appreciate input.
Hi, I found your question very interesting. I too am looking for SOP’s for np’s r/t chronic pain management. I work in a rural family practice and work with many clients with chronic pain, no insurance and not much within 30 miles to refer to. today alone I saw 3 chronic painers and spoke w/ 2 more via phone. Have you found any info? I am even interested in training for NP’s Thanks
What would be a positive ARTHRITIS treatment and medications for shoulder pain?
It feels as though there is some part of the shoulder that is slightly detached. Thank you for your assistance with this serious matter.
Here’s what I did.
Materials needed: heat pack, ice pack, and a dowel (broom handle) about 3 feet long.
1. Apply heat packs to your shoulder for 4 – 5 minutes.
2. Immediately after apply ice packs for 4 – 5 minutes
3. After that lie on your back and hold the ends of the dowel in the palm of your hands. (The palms facing each other) With your arms straight at your side, slowly raise them until they point to the ceiling. Slowly lower them back down to your side. Do this about 25 times 2 – 3 times a day if possible.
(NO NOT ALLOW YOUR ARM TO GO BACK OVER YOUR HEAD BECAUSE THIS WILL DO DAMAGE)
This is what a physiotherapist perscribed for me and it worked.
Good Luck!
