Foot Fungus Pictures

. Foot fungus is best known as athlete’s foot as it is the foot fungus attacking the nails and the skin and usually found between the toes or at the bottom of the feet.  If it is not treated immediately, the fungus may spread and infect the nails which results to onychomycosis: a toenail fungus that brittles the toenail and eventually distort its shape and be removed from the skin.

The thought of it, is just disgusting. The foul odor of the fungus may even attest to its detectability found in the feet. In the foot fungus picture shown, it can be seen that the nail turns yellowish and sometimes it turns brownish in color. It slowly crumbles on the edges and eventually the entire nail will thicken.

athletes foot - foot fungusPitted Keratolysis is another skin condition that affects the feet at its soles. This is caused by some bacterial infection which can sometimes lead to complicated infections and later on fungus may also join in attacking the feet’s health. Same as onychomycosis, pitted keratolysis also gives off an unpleasant odor. Rubber boots or vinyl shoes or any unventilated footwear may result to pitted keratolysis of the feet or as shown in the foot fungus picture on the right.

The most common fungal infection is the athlete’s foot. This is how it looks like when the fungus has started to attack the base of the feet. It may start on the sole and possibly go up the toes and nails and merely stay there if the infected doesn’t seek medical attention immediately.

Causes of Foot Fungus

Athlete’s Foot  as shown in the foot fungus picture is caused by a fungus called Tinea; the former is also sometimes referred to as tinea pedis. Tinea is also known as the ringworm fungus that most people are familiar with. A fungal infection is one of the most difficult diseases to cure because the curing period takes time. It is not just an ordinary specie that could be killed in a second. The fungus is a living microorganism that makes it difficult to remove because it is living within the body.

New Pro Feet Smelly Sock Line Prevents Stinky Feet, Enhances Performance

New Pro Feet Smelly Sock Line Prevents Stinky Feet, Enhances Performance

Burlington, N.C. (PRWEB) November 13, 2010

If you’re an athlete, or a parent of an athlete, you know that hard-working, hard playing feet can often be odiferous. To combat this, Pro Feet has launched their Smelly sock line with X-Static® fiber, a high-tech sock that helps enhance performance while preventing stinky foot odors. Pro Feet is challenging athletes to test the Smelly sock line and share their experiences on the “Pro Feet Challenge” blog, Twitter and Facebook pages.

The Smelly sock line is made from X-Static®, a silver fiber that eliminates odor-causing bacteria and athlete’s foot fungus. X-Static® allows for immediate binding with ammonia and denatured proteins, resulting in instant odor reduction. In addition to the fiber, Pro Feet has engineered the sock so that it enhances performance with arch support and ribbing that increases blood flow to the foot.

The Pro Feet Challenge blog site features five accomplished athletes who are putting the socks to the test, including Curtis Carr, Alli Nogi, Lara Pantlin, Ron St. Bernard and Ryan Troy. These athletes’ credentials range from a former University of Florida football player to the youngest individual to ever complete the Iron Man Triathlon. Other athletes are encouraged to take the Pro Feet Challenge and write about their experiences on the Facebook and twitter pages. The social media sites include a link to retailers across the U.S. and Canada where the sock line can be purchased.

“After a week of training in these socks, I took a chance and ran the Chicago Marathon in them. The performance was great even when the weather rose well above 80 degrees,” John Sheehy, an avid runner, explains on the Facebook page. “The socks performed well and completely controlled sweat and odor. It really may be the perfect sock.”

Commenting on the launch, Callum Brown, vice president of Pro Feet, said, “We realize that athletes work hard, want performance quality products and are always looking for added benefits from any of their athletic gear. We’re proud to be able to provide them with the latest, most innovative sock on the market.”

Consumers can learn more about the sock, and take the challenge by going to http://profeetchallenge.wordpress.com, http://www.twitter.com/pfchallenge and by searching for “Pro Feet Challenge” on Facebook. The first 50 people to post on the Facebook page will be given a free pair from the Smelly sock line.
