Home Remedies for Carpal Tunnel?
I am suffering with carpal tunnel. The worst is at night. What could i do to try to soothe the pain and numbness that i am experiencing? I already sleep with a brace on but wake up two to three times a night with the symptoms.
Try not to sleep with your arms above your head…easier said than done I know. Try rubbing your hands and arms with arnica gel. I really like that stuff. You can buy it at healthfood stores or GNC, etc. It’s not expensive.

Carpal Tunnel at… 14?
I am extremely active with my hands. I play piano about 3 hours a day and even more on the weekends. I also play marimba here and there. As i am typing this, my wrist aches! I researched carpal tunnel syndrome and i have all the symptoms… night pain, unintended movements and jerks, swelling… but i’m 14! Is this possible? What should i do? Thanks!
Wow, there is some bad info on this thing. Who’s the guy that suggested surgery?? First of all, Carpal tunnel syndrome IS possible at any age, although admittedly it is more prevalent in females over 40. The condition involves the median nerve getting irritated as it passes through the carpal tunnel in your wrist. Most common symptoms are wrist pain, numbness in the palm side of your thumb, index and middle finger as well as weakness to these fingers. In extreme cases, shrinking of the thenar muscles (thumb muscles) can occur. Some of the common causes of CTS are repetitive use or trauma, or lack of Vitamin B6. Anyway, pinch your three fingers together like you’re drinking a cup of tea and bend your wrist down as much as possible. Use your other hand to apply pressure downwards. Hold this for about 15 seconds. This is a fairly reliable test. If your fingers go tingly, there is a good chance that your median nerve is compromised. It is normal for this test to produce wrist pain, but this does not indicate CTS. Talk to your local physiotherapist who can help prescribe an exercise routine that will alleviate pain and prevent further injury.

Diabetes Sufferers Target for Carpal Tunnel
People with diabetes may be more likely to develop Carpal Tunnel Syndrome as a result of increased fluid retention in the diabetic’s body. Although there is no conclusive evidence to prove that Carpal Tunnel Syndrome causes diabetes (or vice versa), “Researchers found that people who had been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome were 36% more likely to later be diagnosed with diabetes, regardless of other diabetes risk factors.”

Computer Use Does Not Cause Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Article Date: 01 Jan 2006 – 2:00 PDT
“A new Special Health Report from Harvard Medical School refutes the common assumption that computer use causes carpal tunnel syndrome. Instead, says this report edited by Harvard-based hand expert’s carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by the compression of the median nerve in the wrist. This compression may occur because of heredity, body weight, fracture, or even pregnancy – but not computer use.” To read the full article, click here.
