My sister just had a baby 4 months ago and is now suffering from Carpal Tunnel – anybody know home remedies?

She is suffering pretty badly – there is a constant sharp pain, her hand and wrist are very weak – she has even dropped a peice of paper before and is scared she may drop her baby. She is a single mother and has no one around to help her during the day with her baby and thus is in desperate need of some relief – does anyone have any suggestions?

Ibuprofen or Tylenol. Plus, get some wrist braces, this will keep the wrists straight and help prevent irritation to those nerves.

My friend had Carpal Tunnel after she had her baby. Her Carpal Tunnel eventually went away with time.

Can Anyone Tell Me About Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Treatments?

Hi,

I was recently diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and I was wondering if anyone has any information on Carpal Tunnel Treatments. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I’m sorry to hear about your condition but there are treatments available to cure carpal tunnel.

The surgerical option is very popular and is called Carpal Tunnel Release. You’ll need to be referred by your doctor (UK) if you want to have this done.

There are also a few non-surgical options such as:

Drugs – In special circumstances, various drugs can ease the pain and swelling associated with carpal tunnel syndrome. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and other nonprescription pain relievers, may ease symptoms that have been present for a short time or have been caused by strenuous activity. Orally administered diuretics (“water pills”) can decrease swelling. Corticosteroids (such as prednisone) or the drug lidocaine can be injected directly into the wrist or taken by mouth (in the case of prednisone) to relieve pressure on the median nerve and provide immediate, temporary relief to persons with mild or intermittent symptoms. (Caution: persons with diabetes and those who may be predisposed to diabetes should note that prolonged use of corticosteroids can make it difficult to regulate insulin levels. Corticosterioids should not be taken without a doctor’s prescription.) Additionally, some studies show that vitamin B 6 (pyridoxine) supplements may ease the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome.

Exercise – Stretching and strengthening exercises can be helpful in people whose symptoms have abated. These exercises may be supervised by a physical therapist, who is trained to use exercises to treat physical impairments, or an occupational therapist, who is trained in evaluating people with physical impairments and helping them build skills to improve their health and well-being.

Alternative therapies – Acupuncture and chiropractic care have benefited some patients but their effectiveness remains unproved. An exception is yoga, which has been shown to reduce pain and improve grip strength among patients with carpal tunnel syndrome.

I hope this has answered your question.

Home remedies for carpal tunnel in hand?

At work, I’ve been using the mouse so much that I’m getting a pain in my thumb…help!

Any remedies? I’m wearing a stretchy nylon ace bandage type thing for now, and I’m trying to be careful using my hand, but I have to get work done?

Any ideas??? thanks…

Other than going to the doctor for cortisone shots/surgery wearing the ace bandage is a good start. You could also take some anti-inflammatory medication (tylenol/aspirin/ibuprofen whatever you prefer). Your best bet is to go to the doctor though, they can provide the best diagnosis and treatment! Don’t let it get so bad that you need surgery!

Does anyone know any good home remedies for carpal tunnel?

One way that tends to be time consuming and a long term process is using hydrotherapy. A contrast treatment of hot and cold is what would work best for that route.

soak your wrist in a bowl of hot water for 3 min. if you have a thermometer you want it between 100 and 105 degrees. Then
pull it out and immediately soak it in a bowl of ice water for 30 seconds. repeat this 5-8 times.

the warm water will open blood vessels to bring fresh nutrients to the area while the cold will contract the vessels and push the blood away. repeating this will cause a pumping method that keeps bring fresh blood to tendons that don’t normally recieve that much blood. It will help the body heal better.

I have not been diagnosed but I can feel my forearm getting tight. Are there any home remedies I can to do stop or slow down the syndrome? I don’t want to have to have surgery; I would rather try to stop it from getting worse. Any suggestions?

Stretching, taking regular breaks from the activities that instigate the symptoms, an anti-inflammatory and wearing a brace will help.

Does anyone have an at home remedy to relieve carpal tunnel syndrome?

The pain is excruciating and I can not get an appointment with the doctor for a few weeks.

Eat foods high in vitamin B6 such as bananas, avocados, potatoes, nuts, bluefin tuna, atlantic salmon, chicken, whole grains. Also try using Rhus toxicodendron, a homeopathic remedy that helps in any conditions in which there is stiffness in a joint. Use a splint, be sure to wear the splint properly; if you don’t it may even aggravate the problem. Avoid taking suppplements that contain iron. They are suspected of aggravating pain and swelling in joints.
