what is the best company to order an all around hair and entire home lice treatment product/kits?

do any Lice Treatment kits come with steamers for killing lice in the home.

Adults and nymphs are only able to survive for 2-3 days off the host in optimal conditions.Under normal circumstances however this is more likely to be measured in hours rather than days as the adult louse is highly susceptible to dehydration and will quickly starve.Eggs can survive away from the host for up to 7 days but will not hatch without the warmth of a human host.

Wash pillowcases and sheets as a precaution, but a nit that falls out attached to a hair needs the warmth of the scalp to hatch. Without this, it will simply die. The chances of it finding its way back to that scalp are minimal.

With this in mind it is fairly obvious that compulsive cleaning is totally unnecessary. It is more important to make sure there is no live lice on the head than there is on the floor or furnishings, don`t go wasting your money.

Before you listen to anyone advising you to use a pesticide treatment (over the counter shampoo) please consider the following: No chemical head lice treatment is legally allowed to be labeled as ’safe’ as every insecticide is a poison. They are also ineffective as Head Lice have become immune to them.

Luckily there are quite a few totally natural remedies available that readily kill head lice.

Remedies containing Neem Oil are known to be highly effective as Neem interrupts the growth and reproduction of the head louse. Neem’s insecticidal properties are widely recognized now and the oil is commonly available at your local health food store.

Good luck.

Where can I find very strong Lice Treatment?

I’ve used Rid, and Equate for trying to get rid of lice. Do you know where I could find Lice Treatments that are stronger?

For Head Lice problem wash your hair with vinegar. It will kill all the nits in two days. Apply coconut oil to your head after shampoo and condition. Add ten to fifteen drops of tea tree oil into shampoo bottle and use it daily. Rub listerine mouth wash on your head. This will kill all the lice. Massage your head with mayonnaise and comb it after 2 hours. This will kill all the lice and their eggs. Apply a mixture of lemon and butter on your head, wait for 15 seconds and then rinse your head.

Step One:

Before beginning the process of cleaning the hair of a lice infected individual, make sure you are working in an area that is not carpeted, preferably a bathroom with tile floors. Make sure there are no rugs on the floor, towels or clothes lying around (they make great hiding places for the lice and nits whose homes are being disturbed).

Best to remove shirt or clothing near the area to be cleaned. If the infected hair is long, it may be beneficial to loosely tie the infected hair up on top of the head either with clips or in a ponytail. The lice will try to run and flee the area to be treated when they sense danger, so cut off their escape routes. They may hide in or behind ears, or on the neck. Dip a cotton swab into a safe cleansing liquid and clean out the ears then paint a ring around the outside of the ears and the hair line around the head.

On a dry head, start at the nape of the neck along the hairline and work around the head saturating the hair as you go moving towards the crown where the hair is tied up. Remove the clips or pony tail and continue to apply the Lice cleanser using enough to completely saturate the hair.

Massage the head and work into a lather then comb through hair to ensure coverage (use a metal, regular toothed comb). Wrap or tie the hair back up on top of the head. Every ten minutes or so, massage the hair until 30 to 40 minutes have past.

Reapply the cleanser and work into lather, then comb through hair again (with a metal regular toothed comb). Let sit in hair for another 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

After Dry hair and comb (with nit comb) to remove any remaining lice or nits. The “nit picking” should be done in daylight, outside if possible, and never on carpet. Clean all surfaces and floors after working on hair. Use hot water and a non-toxic liquid cleanser. It is imperative that the head be closely examined for remaining nits.

Step Two:

Lice are highly contagious and it is extremely important that they are eliminated as fast and completely as possible. Proper sanitation of anything in contact with lice is critical to insure re-infestation does not occur.

When lice are first detected, it is important to launder, in a separate load, everything with which the infected person has come in contact. We recommend the use of a non-toxic laundry solution for this process. Do not dry clean or use chlorine bleach.

Bed clothes (including pillows), jackets (and any jackets that may be hanging close to the infested person’s jacket), clothing (everything in the laundry basket), hair combs, brushes, ribbons and doodads, rugs and mats should be laundered in hot water at least 140 degrees. It is best to soak laundry in “pre-soak” or “pre-wash” for at least 30 minutes.

Items that are not washable, such as stuffed animals and sofa pillows, may be placed in an air tight plastic bag and sealed for 30 days, causing the lice to suffocate. Carpets, furniture and car seats should be vacuumed twice. After each vacuuming, the vacuums bags should immediately be removed from the vacuum cleaner, sealed in a plastic bag and disposed of outside of the house. After vacuuming, those same areas should be steam-cleaned, if possible.

How does Evolution explain public lice? Why would they evolve if they’re an impediment to reproduction?

Don’t be nasty to the poor lamb; I LIKE the idea of Public Lice.

Mind you; it is a pretty dumb question. It’s as dumb as asking “Why did evolution give lions sharp teeth? This interferes with the survival of gazelles.”

Diagnosis of Head Lice

The characteristic itch that comes with head lice is something that many people use as a diagnosis technique, yet it is very possible that by the time the itch occurs the lice have already become an established colony.

This is because the itch itself is actually an allergenic reaction to the feeding habits of the louse: when a head louse pierces the skin to feed on blood it secretes a substance that is designed to stop the blood from clotting. Naturally, such a tiny creature only leaves behind a tiny amount and it is so that the reaction may take some time to occur thanks to our immune system.

In fact, in many people the itching itself may not occur, and in others it may take weeks – months, even – which means that head lice could well have set up camp a long time prior to the patient beginning to scratch.

This is why it is absolutely essential to use alternative methods of diagnosis in order to catch the lice early and before they have multiplied out of control.

If you suspect that lice may be present – or if your child associates with a known sufferer – then regular inspection of the head and the scalp – and other areas – is necessary in order to make sure. This is best done by using a specially made nit comb, a short but very deep comb with very closely ranked teeth. It is recommended that the combing is done carefully and thoroughly over a white sheet of paper, this enabling any lice that are snagged and fall out of the hair to be seen clearly – they will look like tiny creatures when inspected closely, and they will most likely be crawling around!

Diagnosis is sometimes difficult but the above is one of a few certain ways of getting to the root of the problem; as the lice live on the scalp and the nits are attached to the hair follicles very close to the base then a normal everyday comb will not suffice. Nit combs are simple and affordable, and are a vital tool in the fight against lice.

Other symptoms include the presence of very tiny red marks on the scalp – these are actually bite marks – and the presence on pillows and bedclothes of tiny white or brown specks, these being the hatched eggs. Hard to see thanks to their microscopic size, the comb through method is the very best way of diagnosing the presence of head lice.

Before we go on to discuss the various methods of treating head lice there is one thing to make clear: head lice are pests, parasites and a great source of embarrassment, but it is essential that on finding them you do not over-react. Not only can Head Lice, as we have said, be found on the cleanest of hair but they are essentially harmless – unlike many other parasites of this nature they do not carry or spread any diseases.

Eradicate Lice from Your Environment

Eradicating Head Lice from your home, car, and office is just as important as treating yourself and your family. Unless the lice are completely eradicated from your environment, you will be susceptible to re-infestations over and over again.

If possible, it is also important to try and figure out where, or from whom, the infestation was contracted. By knowing the source of the infestation, you will be able to either make sure that the carrier is informed of what they have (in case they do not know or realize that they have Head Lice) and promptly treated. It will also enable you to avoid situations where you could become re-infested.

Benzalchonium Chloride is commonly known to be effective against Lice when cleaning or disinfecting your environment. This ingredient is used in hospitals and in the medical community for numerous things. You can either get this disinfectant locally or you can get it directly from All Stop. It’s your choice!

Also, it’s important to cover your mattress with a plastic mattress cover in order to prevent re-infestation. Additionally, it’s imperative that the sheets are washed in hot water and then in the dryer on high heat to kill the lice each night before you jump in bed. You can get a plastic mattress cover locally or you can get a disposable one from All Stop.
