regading my earlier question earlier about psoriasis does any one get it internally wot are the symptoms?

Findings on physical examination depend on the type of psoriasis.

Plaque psoriasis is characterized by raised inflamed lesions covered with a silvery white scale. The scale may be scraped away to reveal inflamed skin beneath. This is most common on the extensor surfaces of the knees, elbows, scalp, and trunk.
Guttate psoriasis presents as small red dots of psoriasis that usually appear on the trunk, arms, and legs; the lesions may have some scale. It frequently appears suddenly after an upper respiratory infection (URI).
Inverse psoriasis occurs on the flexural surfaces, armpit, groin, under the breast, and in the skin folds and is characterized by smooth, inflamed lesions without scaling.
Pustular psoriasis presents as sterile pustules appearing on the hands and feet or, at times, diffusely, and may cycle through erythema, pustules, and scaling.
Erythrodermic psoriasis presents as generalized erythema, pain, itching, and fine scaling.
Scalp psoriasis affects approximately 50% of patients, presenting as erythematous raised plaques with silvery white scales on the scalp.
Nail psoriasis may cause pits on the nails, which may develop yellowish color and become thickened. Nails may separate from the nail bed.
Psoriatic arthritis affects approximately 10% of those with skin symptoms. The arthritis is usually in the hands, feet, and, at times, in larger joints. It produces stiffness, pain, and progressive joint damage.
Oral psoriasis may present with whitish lesions on the oral mucosa, which may appear to change in severity from day to day. It may also present as severe cheilosis with extension onto the surrounding skin, crossing the vermillion border.

Are liquid hand soaps bad for people suffering with severe Psoriasis?

I’ve heard that liquid hand soaps dry skin – any truth to this rumour? Also, my husband’s Psoriasis has erupted all over his face and neck and the skin is literally flaking off. It’s awful, but nothing the dermatologists at the hospital prescribe does anything (because they’re treating the symptoms and not attacking the cause which is a faulty immune system). Does anybody know of any skin products that might give him some relief? E45 cream is okay but doesn’t prevent the flaking.

Any liquid soap or gel that has alcohol in it will dry the skin.

Also watch out for toothpastes, shampoos, cosmetics and skin-care products that contain a skin irritant called sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS). It is a foaming agent but irritates skin. Ironically, oe of the products it is commonly found in is aqueous cream, which a recent survey found nine out of ten GPs wrongly recommend for eczema. Try switching to Dexeryl, an emollient that has no SLS and is free from lanolin and fragrance, which can also cause irritation.

my dermitalogist said i have seborrheic dermatits but gave me a shampoo for psoriasis to treat it?

Yea, should i use it? these two issues are VERY different and i do not have any symptoms of psoriasis. I have a few flakes on my scalp but nothing like psoriasis. but she gave me a shampoo to treat it for psoriasis, should i use it?
the shampoo is called Clobex, please help me!

Give it a try, the main ingredient is Clobetasol propionate, and below is a study where researchers tested that ingredient on SD and found that it helps get rid of it in some people.

Anyone have any effective natural treatments for psoriasis?

I really do not want to do injections…too many possible BAD side effects. Would like some natural, herbal or whatever ideas.
oh…plaque I think.
Wow…these answers are great. Thank you all. I believe it is genetic…my father and grandfather suffered from it…along with other autoimmune disorders. I take good care of myself. good diet and my digestive processes are good. Its a mystery.
Oh yeah…sun is out. Im a fair skinned redhead…allergic to sun exposure…go figure…my luck.

Have you tried the herb Sarsaparilla [smilax officinalis], or any creams based on anti-inflammatory herbal extracts such as chamomile, calendula or licorice, or a manuka honey cream….the latter in particular might be worth trying if you have not already done so. Do some research on these.

further info regarding sarsaparilla:

and natural treatments that might help insha’Allah:

..not offiliated in any way with either websites/companies but thought the info they have collated might be of help insha’Allah.

Best wishes.

does anyone know about any good treatments for scalp psoriasis?

i have scalp psoriasis and it’s really irritating. i’ve tried several drug store shampoos but i feel like they aren’t working.

If your scalp psoriasis is severe enough, you’re going to need some prescription items, rather than over the counter medicines. Your dermatologist can help you out with this.

Many Psoriasis Topical Creams or Salves can also be used to treat psoriasis on scalp as well.

Home Remedies for Psoriasis and other hair issue?

I have had psoriasis for 20 years on my scalp. Recently i have noticed that i am getting a bigger area on my scalp. I think its because i have started using Suave Shampoo & Conditioner again. So i am gonna change brands. BUT, what home remedies can i use to get rid of the flakes and itchyness? Also, i just had a baby in May 2007 & May 2008 and my hair is falling out. I know that its just my hormones getting back to “normal” but i need something that is gonna help slow it down or something because my hair is starting to thin out. Please if someone has some home remedies for psoriasis and my hair falling out it would be greatly appreciated.
Home Remedies for Psoriasis and other hair issue?
i have went to dermatologists for meds for the psoriasis and nothing seems to work.

For the psoriasis on your scalp, apply coconut oil – the kind you find at the health food store. If you go back on your prenatal vitamins for a couple of months, your hair loss should stop.

What are good treatments for severe psoriasis and exzema?

My mom has bad areas on the soles of her feet, her fingers, her elbows, and other places. She sees a dermatologist, who gives her steroid creams and injections. They don’t last long, and she is starting to have side effects from the steroids = the moon face, etc. Does anyone know any other suggestions?

I had great success with anti-psoriasis cream/spray combo from http://www.champori.com It cleared my 4 year old psor. in just over 2 weeks, and I haven’t had a remission for a year now. (mine was plaque p., mostly on arms, legs and scalp) They offer also natural remedy for eczema. These products are natural (herbal) without steroids, and with money-back guarantee policy they are free if they don’t work.

There are also other good topical treatments for severe cases of psoriasis out there that is specifically designed to help balance your skin’s natural pH Level. This helps to stop the itch and relieve symptoms of Psoriasis and prevent recurrence.

What are some effective treatments for Psoriasis?

I have a loved one that suffers from it and I would love to know what treatements people have found effective. Thanks so much!

They are finding that this is something caused internally. Make sure they are not eating breads, mushrooms, cheese for starters. Sugar and caffiene also are a no no. Lots of water, good healthy foods. Sun light daily on the affected area. Go to a naturopath and see the suppliments that help. Using the prescribed drugs actually cause other problems.

What are the symptoms of psoriasis?

No, links, please. I have dial-up. It would take FOREVER! Thanks in advance!
So, is it better to scratch psoriasis or leave it alone?

Do not scratch just makes it more uncomfortable! When you bathe/shower use dove soap and immediately after apply Eucerin lotion and your prescribe prescription. Keep benadryl handy if it is really itchy.Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that causes skin cells to grow too quickly
