anyone know a home remedy for ringworm?

You can buy any athletes foot medicine over the counter to clear up ring worm. The medicine kills the bacteria that forms the "ring" on your skin. You can also go to the doctor but he/she will just prescribe the same ingredients found in the athlete’s foot medicine.

What is a Treatment for ringworm on cats?

First, use Malaseb Shampoo (anti fungal shampoo) to bathe your cat every two days, I know it is a pain, but it really help to control the ringworm.
Second, put the anti fungal cream on the pathes two to three time per day. Don’t stop the treatment too soon, even you see the hair glow back, keep to put the cream on that area for at least two more weeks.
Third, treat the environment, vacuum the whole house, all the bedding, place behide sofa etc….if you could vacuum everyday.
Forth, try to isolate your cat with human and other animal, you can put him in a small room (better no carpet). Also it is better for you to control spreading the ringworm in the environment too.
You can buy the anti fungal shampoo and cream from animal revival.
Only take couples day to delivery.
Hope this kind of tips can help!!!!!

home remedies for getting rid of and preventing ring worm in humans?

my daughter keeps getting ringworm, we keep on decontaminating all her clothes toys and bed, but it keeps coming back, i think she is picking it up from a local cat or dog as we dont own any pets.
does any1 have any other remedies to get rid of it from her body without using a cream from the chemist

Here is a home remedy I found:

A folk remedy for ringworm is a 1:1 solution of cider vinegar and water. Another alternative is 2 drops of tea tree oil mixed with an ounce of water.

I don’t know if this works or not but I know that you can buy anti fungal cream or sprays from any pharmacy and use it to treat ringworm. If its a bad infection then it would be best to see the Dr for oral drugs.

As for reinfestation I know the spores that cause ringworm can live in the house for up to a year so it’s important to clean the entire house. Wash anything that can be washed and It can be hard to get rid of the spores in your home. Here are some tips that may help:

This is why treatment for ringworm must also include a thorough house cleaning to rid the home of any spores that could reinfect you or your cat. This can be done by disinfecting your home using a dilute chlorine (.5%) bleach solution (this must include all furniture, carpeting etc.). Remove and replace all used air filters in the home. Thorough vacuuming of the carpeting and subsequent removal of the vacuum bags can also assist in ridding the home of spores.

Also, it’s important to try to find the cause. If you do not have any pets and you think this came from a pet then make sure you tell your daughter not to pet any strange animals until this thing is taken care of. Also, I read it doesn’t have to be from a pet it can come from another person or even the soil.

Hope I helped.

I had ringworm before. My older cat had it and I got it and we shampooed him with anti fungal shampooed and clean the house good and treated our spots with cream and it was gone. Good Luck.

what is the best treatment for ringworm?

can peolpe catch ringworm from dogs?

Ringworm is a contagious fungus infection that can affect the scalp, the body, the feet (athlete’s foot), or the nails.

People can get Ringworm from: 1) direct skin-to-skin contact with an infected person or pet, 2) indirect contact with an object or surface that an infected person or pet has touched, or 3) rarely, by contact with soil.
Ringworm can be treated with fungus-killing medicine.
To prevent Ringworm, 1) make sure all infected persons and pets get appropriate treatment, 2) avoid contact with infected persons and pets, 3) do not share personal items, and 4) keep common-use areas clean.

What is Ringworm?

Ringworm is a contagious fungus infection that can affect the scalp, the body (particularly the groin), the feet, and the nails. Despite its name, it has nothing to do with worms. The name comes from the characteristic red ring that can appear on an infected person’s skin. Ringworm is also called Tinea.

Anyone can get Ringworm. Scalp Ringworm often strikes young children; outbreaks have been recognized in schools, day-care centers, and infant nurseries. School athletes are at risk for scalp Ringworm, Ringworm of the body, and foot Ringworm; there have been outbreaks among high school wrestling teams. Children with young pets are at increased risk for Ringworm of the body.
Ringworm can be treated with fungus-killing medicine. The medicine can be taken in tablet or liquid form by mouth or as a cream applied directly to the affected area.
Infected persons should follow these steps to keep the infection from spreading:

Complete treatment as instructed, even after symptoms disappear.
Do not share towels, hats, clothing, or other personal items with others.
Minimize close contact with others until treated.
Make sure the person or animal that was the source of infection gets treated

Go to your local drug store and see if they offer any over the counter products. If not then go to your doctor for a perscription

What are the chances of scalp ringworm going away without a prescription if home treatment is done properly?

Hello,

Of course nothing is impossible in medicine, and you don’t specify what home treatment you have in mind, but on theoretical grounds the chances aren’t very good.

This is because proper scalp ringworm (fungus infection) invades the hair follicles and the hair shafts themselves.

There is always going to be a ‘reservoir’ of fungus in the hair follicles and hair roots, where things you apply on the outside can’t get to the fungus, and from whence the fungus can re-emerge as a fresh infection.

Conventional medical treatment of scalp fungus infection alwyas involves taking an ‘anti-fungus antibiotic,’ which kills the fungus off from the inside.

One authority (Habif, ‘Clinical Dermatology,’ 3rd edition, p.380b) goes so far as to say, "topical [externally applied] antifungal agents are ineffective for treating tinea capitis [scalp ringworm]."

Hope this is of some help.

Best wishes, Belliger (retired uk gp)

Ringworm. How do you get rid of it forever with a home remedy?

Every 3 or 4 months I get a red, sensitve patch on my skin in the same area. It itches and swells up. It is usually gone within 3 weeks. I hate it. I think it is ringworm, but how the hell did I get it? I bathe frequently.

I don’t think there is no home remedy for that. Go and consult your Doctor or go to a pharmacist. There are lot of creams available for ring worms. I don’t think you should delay these kind of things otherwise they become chronic.
