Non-Toxic VS Toxic Scabies Treatments

Scabies is a contagious skin mite that effects many different races and social groups of people. It is a common misconception that you must be dirty to get scabies. When in fact; anyone, any gender, any race or age can catch scabies.

There are two ways to treat for scabies. These is a non-toxic over the counter treatment for scabies and a toxic scabies cream which requires a prescription. Toxic scabies treatments may be very harmful if not deadly especially for children and adults with lowered immune systems. For more information about a non-toxic scabies cure, click here.

Symptoms of Scabies

Intense itching is the first scabies symptom of a scabies rash. The itching usually does not start for a few (4 to 6) weeks, then increases gradually until, in about 2 months, it becomes relentless. However, in a person who has suffered the infection before, the itching can start within 1 to 4 days.

Unlike in other skin infections, where the itching happens in spurts, in scabies the itching is continuous and tends to worsen at night. Most patients are not able to sleep at all – such is the extent of the itching. If you suffer from itching that wakes you up in the middle of the night, you mostly suffer from scabies.

The itching occurs when the female skin mite burrows into the skin, since she uses her jaws and legs to cut into the upper layer of the skin. It is also caused when larvae become adults and begin to roam around on the skin or attach themselves to hair follicles. The itching particularly occurs in areas of the body such as:

  • The wrists
  • Between finger
  • Around the nipples (in women)
  • Around the genitals (in men)
  • Areas around the buttocks
  • Inner elbows
  • Around the waist and umbilicus
  • Sides of the feet

The other scabies symptom is rashes with tiny red bumps on the skin. These are actually the ‘burrows’ or ‘tunnels’ in which the skin mite lays her eggs. These burrows are quite thin, almost threadlike and anywhere between 2 mm to 15 mm in length. They appear gray or red in color.

Burrows are usually very difficult to see, however, if looked at carefully, you could see a skin mite at the end of a burrow as a tiny white point. The scabies rashes are often confused with stretch marks or even dry skin; therefore treating scabies can be difficult if misdiagnosed.

A mixture of human attacking mites

But take caution if you still cannot get rid of your scabies, it could be another type of mite or another type of skin parasite.  This will not go away on its own.

We are sending you information on other types of mites that attack humans to provide you with information so you can make a decision on how you are going to deal with this problem.

Household Mites – Mites are occasionally found in homes and attack humans in the absence of their normal hosts-birds, rodents, or insects. Bites from these mites may be painful and cause severe skin irritation.

Bird Mites – The northern fowl mite tropical fowl mite and chicken mite are the major bird mite species in Florida. The northern fowl mite is the species most important as a problem to birds in the state. They are accidental pests to humans

Rodent Mites – The two most abundant rodent mites in buildings are the tropical rat mite and the house mouse mite. Rodent mites are primarily external parasites of rats and house mice, but they will also feed on humans.

House Dust Mites – The house dust mites (floor mites) are increasing in medical significance to humans. The importance of house dust mites is that pieces of the mite’s in house dust may produce allergic reactions and asthma when inhaled. It is presently estimated that four percent of the human population shows a house dust allergy.

A Bit about Norwegian Scabies

Many of our customers want to know what the difference between regular scabies and Norwegian scabies is.  That is a good question and it is asked often.  We thought you might be wondering too.

The truth is the main difference between Norwegian scabies and regular scabies is simply the number of mites present on an infected person. In regular scabies, the number of mites on a host at any one time is, on average, 10 to 15 (with a range of 3-50). Persons with Norwegian scabies, on the other hand, will have thousands to millions of mites. Consequently, their skin manifestations are much more severe, with thick, hyperkeratotic crusts that can occur on almost any area of the body.

The type of mite in both presentations is exactly the same. The difference lies with the host, with those developing Norwegian scabies usually having a compromised immune system. Indeed, a normal host who acquires scabies from a patient with Norwegian scabies will develop only a usual case of scabies.

Norweign Scabies requires products that will break down the crust and also heal infection quickly.  Just to let you know our All StopTM products does just that and much more!

Scabies Common Breeding Grounds

If you still have not been able to change your life and begin living without Scabies, we sincerely hope all this information we are sending you is helpful.

Most common breeding environments are:
- in overcrowded living conditions
- in school children playing together
- families
- roommates
- sexual partners
- mothers of infants
- elderly people in nursing homes
- soldiers
- prisoners

The insect or the egg can spread the infection and the mite can survive on objects for a long time, so constant washing of clothing, towels, or bedding is necessary.  Scabies does not occur because of poor hygiene.

We hope the information we have been sending you afford you to make the best decision you can about your scabies problem.  You know it is really not difficult to get rid of scabies and you have parasite professionals here to help you.  You now have the chance to end all this mess!

More on Scabies, and common Misdiagnoses’

I came across an article recently in the New York Times that I felt appropriate to share with you. Anyone, regardless of race and/or ethnicity can get scabies, and it is generally through close physical contact. This is usually more common in sexual encounters or by simply being around a family member often that may have contracted it. The problem is that it’s hard to tell when you receive it and even harder to recall when you could have contracted it as it can take anywhere from 6 to an upward of 8 weeks to begin to itch and show signs.

Unfortunately since the symptoms of scabies infections so closely mimic that of other dermatological afflictions, it is often misdiagnosed. Scabies are quite small, measuring about .4 millimeters and are virtually invisible to the naked eye. They are unfortunately also found and contracted from family pets and animals in the form of mange on their skin. At times, the scabies mites tend to burrow into the skin, leaving visible trails of the wake of their destructive path. Rashes and itchiness are a result of the body’s reaction to the eggs and excrement that the female scabies mites distrubute into the harborages they created in your skin.

It is indeed a terrible thing to experience the anguish these burdensome pests cause. It is important to remind you that while treating your skin in the unanticipated event of infestation with scabies, it is also incredibly important to treat your environment for this issue; otherwise, you maintain a high chance of recontamination.

For a direct link to the article follow this link.

I wish you the best and hope that you never have to encounter this problem. If you have, I hope that you can get rid of it fast and never experience scabies again.

Common Ways to Contract Scabies

Below is a list of the most common ways people get scabies:

- Personal prolonged content
- Close contact, usually starting at the wrist
caused by holding hands with a person
who has scabies.
- Close contact with infected clothing, socks,
sweaters, bedding or towels.
- Shaking hands
- Sleeping together or sleeping on a mattress
that has been infested with mites from
someone who slept on it within the last 72
hours.
- Sitting on a cloth chair or coach that has been
infested with mites from someone who
sat on it within the last 72 hours.
