What are ferrets allergic to?

I took Tigger to the vet a few weeks back for fur loss and his diagnosis was allergies. With the fur loss I was almost possitve we were going to be batteling cancer. No he checked out healthy as a horse. Skin samples were taken to rule out parasites. So we are batteling allergies. So the treatment is 1cc of Benedryl 2 to 3 times a day. So what can ferrets be allergic to that causes fur loss and tons of itching?

I have two ferrets LOVE them they are SUCH BRATS!!! But I also have a dog that I am CONSTANTLY battling allergies with. I did not know this but animals are like people and they are allergic to things just like people. Sometimes you can pin point it i.e. laundry detergent bedding.. things like that but most of the time it is something in the air something in their food. Or a hundred things. My dog gets steroid shots and when they really act up she takes the benadryl..

So basically it is like a person and it is something you have to control but it shouldnt be to huge of a problem if you just follow the vets orders. Hope this helps! :)

Muscle Twitches = Morgellons?

Look at how my arm muscle is going nuts. It’s totally involuntary. Does this happen to you guys? Maybe it’s Morgellons. Maybe I haven’t been taking enough colloidal silver..

Enjoy!

=========================

LYRICS:

Drawn by your skin every night
I am a strange parasite
Breaking the seams of your skin
Don’t be afraid
Let me in

I read your skin
It’s like a book of lust
It is my bible
Oh yeah, in skin we trust
My private landscape
Full of lovely sights
Sweetest depressions and addictive heights

Drawn by your skin every night
I am a strange parasite
Breaking the seams of your skin
Don’t be afraid
Let me in

I’m wrapped in you
Your skin is woven sin
You’re wearing moonlight
I’m wearing just a grin
I stretch my arms and roam through holy land
I am a pilgrim
Heaven is close at hand

Drawn by your skin every night
I am a strange parasite
Breaking the seams of your skin
Don’t be afraid
Let me in

Drawn by your skin every night
I am a strange parasite
Breaking the seams of your skin
Don’t be afraid
Let me in

Let me in
Let me in
Don’t be afraid
Don’t be afraid
A strange parasite
Don’t be afraid
Don’t be afraid
A strange parasite
Don’t be afraid

Drawn by your skin every night
I am a strange parasite
Breaking the seams of your skin
Don’t be afraid
Let me in

Drawn by your skin every night
I am a strange parasite
Breaking the seams of your skin
Don’t be afraid
Let me in

Let me in
Let me in
Don’t be afraid…

Wat can ringw0rms d0 t0 y0ur pet?

My d0g had a dr’s app0intment the 0ther day…I asked f0r a skin scraping because he c0nstantly itches, scratches & chews his paws raw s0 i used fr0ntline 0n him & when she did the skin scraping test she saw n0 parasites but she was talking ab0ut s0me treatment called "Rev0luti0n" she explained that it kills mites…Aside fr0m that she t0ld me that she thinks he might have ringw0rm which is a fungus that b0thers the skin…If any0ne has expierence w/ it can y0u tell me what can it d0 t0 an animal…? Is it very bad? & d0es it g0 away w/ treatment?

erm…. i think you are using the ‘0′ instead of the ‘o’. There is a difference you know…

Whats wrong with my dog?

Hey whats up. I love my dog so much that I cant even explain. Theres something wrong with him, and I dont know what it is! He’s got some hair loss, and on the skin where the hair is missing thereare little sores, of which all look exactly the same. I tried sqeezing one to see if maybe there was some sort of visible parasite, but all that came out was blood and puss(disgusting). I took him to the vet, and the vet gave me some pills and said it was just allergies. I gave him the whole perscription, and nothing. Anybody have any ideas to what this could be? Maybe mange? If so any suggestions on treatment?

Take the dog to another vet. "Allergies" means he doesn’t have a clue and is taking the easy way out.

Sarcoptic mange results in sores, major hair loss, and spreads like wildfire. It makes a dog totally miserable. You can get it, too, if you’re touching him and squeezing out pus and blood without washing your hands. Please be careful.

It can be treated easily by a competent vet with a few shots. Ivermectin is the most popular treatment, administered by a shot. It can also be lethal if you get the dosage incorrect, or use it on a dog with heartworms. A lot of people ignore the warnings and do-it-themselves, end of dog. Used properly, Ivermectin is also good on other parasites the dog may have, which could be contributing to his "allergy."

Mange mites usually show up under a microscope, so don’t expect to see them. Their babies, which is how they spread, are even smaller.

There are also dips available for mange, if you’d rather not risk the Ivermectin.

Good luck to you, don’t give up and please go wash your hands right now! :-)

Identify and eradicate parasites [I think internally]?

Begins with a few pencil point size colorless bumps that itch. Not contagious. In several days, bumps turn to pencil point size blisters that can be poked to release water. Bumps don’t increase in size just number, flattening to red dots and itching stops. Dry, hard skin develops over top which, when removed reveals tiny hole.
Location: Undersides of feet and palms of hands.
Current treatment: Topical Clotrimazole. Controls spreading somewhat.
I believe it’s an internal parasite coming to surface for two reasons. It happens in conjunction with itchy eyes and ears [internal]. & it goes away with strict alkaline diet of fresh foods.
Esp. helpful to avoid alchohol.

It doesn’t sound parasitic to me, at all. Why would said parasites choose to come out just on the palms of your hands and soles of your feet—–the two areas with the toughest skin of the entire body?
Quit poking the blisters and pulling the scabs off, and I bet they’ll go away.

Victory over Morgellons

In the morning I checked the results of my purge and found no mass exodus from my body, which could be due to my own cure regimen or perhaps the nutrasilver doesn’t work as well, or whatever… I still have 1 morgellons area on my lip but I hope to get rid of that today.

OPEN BOTTOM concept to view fish’s health

Previously unable to side view fish in the pond. The open bottom tank allow fish to move up above the pond. Now you can have a very good view of your fish and monitor their health.

WHITE SPOTS IN FISH
When your fish are afflicted by ick, small white spots appears on their bodies. The parasites burrow into the skin of their victim to feed on blood and dead cells. This causes the skin of the fish to swell and produce cysts which appear as white spots.
Infected fish may scratch against rocks or gravel in an effort to get relief from the irritation.
After feeding for a week, these noxious critters mature, then dig their way out of the host body and sink to the bottom of the aquarium.
Soon after it settles onto the substrate, the ick secretes a soft, jellylike membrane which encloses it. Within this protective cocoon, the organism rapidly divides into hundred of baby parasites know as tomites. Once the tomite mature, they leave the membrane in search of new host bodies and the vicious circle renews itself. Unless effective remedy is swiftly undertaken, ick will continue to grow and proliferate.
It is during this stage that the swimming parasites are searching for new host that they are vulnerable to medication. Once they are burrowed their way into a fish, they are well protected from chemicals.

OTHER SOLUTION FOR TREATMENT
Raising the water temperature can be an effective remedy, especially when combined with other treatments. If the fish you keep can withstand heat, raised the water temperature above30 degreeC this temperature is generally fatal to ick. Otherwise, youll have to combine heat treatment with medication.
Unless the water temperature is raised beyond the parasites tolerance level of 30 degree C, heat will actually speed up its reproduction cycle. So if you are unable to raise the temperature above this level, youve got to include medication as part of the treatment.
Because heat can accelerate the icks reproduction cycle, the parasite will exit their host bodies more quickly, thus exposing themselves to the chemicals that can kill them off. It is therefore important that you medicate the water continuously for at least 10 to 14 days to ensure that all parasites are killed.
If the disease is spotted early and effective treatment applied promptly, there is a good chance that the fish will live through the ordeal. However, once the disease has reached the advance stage, chances of keeping your fish is reduced.

EFFECTIVE MEDICATION AGAINST ICK
Malachite green, Mepracrine hydrochloride, Methylene blue and Guinine hydrochloride.

Where does Ick come from?

I’ve actually put this hear to explain how the disease works. I had made a response to a previous question, and someone said they didnt know why I thought ph had anything to do with ick. Actually Ick is a parasite that all fish carry, but break out with when stressed. Usually any drastic change in ph or tempature will bring on an ick breakout.
Ich is a ciliated protozoan parasite that infests freshwater tropical fish, goldfish, koi, and other gamefish species. Ich is a relatively large protozoan, up to one mm in diameter. Ich infestations can wipe out an entire tank of fish or pond if left untreated.
The most common symptom is the appearance of white spots on the fish. The spots can be seen on fins, the body, and eyes of the fish. Infested fish may not immediately show the characteristic white spots. Ich infests the gills, feeding on cells and fluids. Gill tissue suffers extensive damage, leading to suffocation of the fish.
Ich also infests the body and fins and can lead to secondary bacterial and fungal infections. In the early stages of infection fish may be seen scratching on ornaments, rocks, or gravel. In the later stages fish are often seen hanging near power filter outlets, pumping their gills, in an attempt to get oxygen. Some fish may sit of the bottom of the aquarium or pond. Infested fish often will not eat.
Ich parasites burrow just under the skin of fish, causing the characteristic "white spot" or trophont stage. At maturity, the adult parasite, called a tomont, detaches from the fish and swims freely for about six hours. The trophozite eventually settles to the bottom of the aquarium. The parasite then secretes a protective membrane. The "cyst" now undergoes many divisions, producing 1,000 or more offspring, called theronts. When the cyst breaks open, up to 1000 theronts emerge in search of a fish host. Theronts invade their fish host by burrowing into the skin with their cilia and digestive enzymes. The tomites feed on fish cells and tissue fluids until mature, starting the cycle over again. Tomites especially devastating to delicate gill tissue. The gills are destroyed by the destructive feeding action of the parasites, causing the fish to suffocate.

Considering that each trophozite releases about 1000 infective theronts, it is easy to see how fish can quickly succumb to an Ich outbreak. Water temperature controls the speed of the Ich life cycle. At 21° -24° C (70° -75° F) it takes about three days for a complete cycle.
Ich parasites can only be killed when they are in the free-swimming theront stage. Medications do not kill the parasites attached to the fish (white spot) or when the parasites are encysted in the gravel. Disappearance of the white spots simply means that the parasites have advanced to the cyst stage. In a few hours or days, depending on water temperature, thousands of infective theronts will burst out in search of a fish host. It is precisely at this point that the medication does its job. Since not all the Ich parasites "hatch out" at the same time, it is necessary to treat the aquarium or pond for several days to insure control. When one fish has ick, all fish in the aquarium or pond will be infected. All fish must be treated. Ich parasites are easily transferred to other aquaria or ponds by nets, hands, boots, etc. Quarantine the infested fish. Do not add or remove fish from the infested aquarium or pond. Begin treatment immediately.

Ich is not always present on all fish. It is not a disease. It is a parasite. It is temperature sensitive. It’s life cycle is 7 days.

If you raise the temp to 86 degrees and don’t see any white spots on your fish for 10 days, the parasite has died out in your tank and cannot reinfect unless you add an infected fish or a plant/decoration from an infected tank.

A holding tank for new fish and plants is a must. Two weeks is the absolute minimum to house the new fish/plant in the holding tank. Remember, 7 days is the life cycle of the ich parasite. Other diseases or parasites may present during this time also, or even in the third week. Many top authorities in the field of fish diseases and parasites reccommend a 4 week period in the holding tank before adding the newcomers to your community tank.

If you have already tried medication without results, there is another way to cure ich. The other approach is to actually destroy the organism with heat, and can be combined with the salt treatment, but not with meds.

The data that was studied (including a report by the Southern Regional Aquaculture Center) suggests that most strains of Ich cannot reproduce at temperatures above 85ºF. To use this temperature treatment approach, slowly (no more than 1 or 2 degrees per hour) raise the temperature to 86ºF, while maintaining strong continuous surface agitation to oxygenate the water.

This is extremely important because water holds less O2 at higher temperatures. (This is why meds should not be used in conjunction with high temp – most Ich treatment products also reduce oxygen levels. Less available oxygen, combined with the respiration difficulties an infected fish is already faced with, could be fatal.)

The adjusted temperature should be maintained for approximately 10 days, or a minimum of 3 days after all signs of the parasite have disappeared (the life cycle of the parasite is 7 days).

Do not discontinue treatment when the spots go away. This is critical, because we know that the parasites are visible only as a white spot (trophont) on the body of the host, and not during the reproductive or free-swimming stage. We also know that trophonts on the gills are impossible to see.

Salt inhibits all freshwater parasites and is commonly used with many livebearers to keep them healthy. Most fish benefit from salt in their water, but some are affected detrimentally. Do your research before adding salt to any tank.

Rabbit with raised black and red bumps on skin?

Hi, I have had rabbits before and two weeks ago bought a baby lion head who is just a sweetie, well, i gave her a few days to settle in and all her normal health signs are great, bright eyes, clear nose, healthy appetite and drinking normally. No runny feces and seemed in perfect health until today when i noticed bumps on her skin, her hair is really long so i hadn’t noticed before, but her skin is white and flaky with little red and black bumps all over it. My first thought was dry skin and scabs-perhaps from her past diet and living conditions, but before i go ahead and treat that, is there something else that has those symptoms that i don’t know about? Please anyone with experience with rabbits answer! Could this be some sort of parasite? Thanks for all help and suggestions, also, please suggest natural treatments, since i am not a drug sort of a person, i always go more for the natural approach.

Have you been feeding a lot of leaves? Leaves, believe it or not, are not to good for rabbits, and can only be given occasionally. The reason of it’s health are probably from foods. Keep giving it what you are feeding it, and mark it on a chart. If it doesn’t get any better, take it to an emergency vet
