I live in Michigan, and during the summer (especially May and June) these giant beetles are EVERYWHERE.
Everyone around here is scared of them because there are a lot of stories about them biting and latching on to skin and not letting go.
I’m sure a lot of that is exaggeration, but do they actually bite/pinch/attack humans?
I’ve never been bitten by one, but that is because I am a chicken and run away from everything.
.
I guess my link isn’t working. Here is Google Image search for June Bug:

I’ve never been bitten by one, per se… but I have had alot of painful encounters with them.
Nothing like going down the road at 80 mph with your windows down, and a junebug zinging into your chest. One time, I found parts of it’s splattered shell on my dashboard up to a month after the incident.
I live in western pennsylvania, and I think all the June bugs here like to hang out on the highway for that specific reason.
